I think transhumanists will find TMS very exciting as it offers us a real possibility of further understanding intelligence and the mind/brain. Up until recently it has been impossible to perform noninvasive precise stimulation of the brain. TMS is going to open up new areas of neuroscience by allowing researchers to create "virtual lesions" so that we can establish which brain areas play causal roles in various mental processes. I'm also very interested in its proven ability to treat mental illnesses such as depression.

If you get a chance, maybe you could post a quick introduction here on Transhumanists.org? If not, not a problem :) I'll try reading more about this topic soon. Sounds fascinating.
